Recently, in the Chzhalun State Reserve in Heilongjiang Province, the breeding season of the Manchurian cranes, kept in artificial conditions, has begun. The chicks have hatched, and currently, 11 young individuals have been successfully raised.
The Zhalong Reserve, located in the west of Heilongjiang Province, covers an area of 2,100 square kilometers. It is the largest reserve in the world for breeding wild Japanese cranes and the largest base in the world for artificial breeding and restoration of this bird population. The reserve is called the “homeland of Japanese cranes” in China.
