Namangan /Uzbekistan/, June 24 /Xinhua/ — The Third International Forum of the Art of Makom /vocal-instrumental genre/ opened on Tuesday in the Uzbek city of Namangan under the auspices of UNESCO and the Islamic Organization for Education, Science and Culture (ISESCO). More than 230 people from 83 countries and international organizations are participating in it.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted in his greeting that art is a spiritual bridge connecting the hearts of people and opening the path to kindness. In this sense, this forum, which has become a tradition in Uzbekistan, has transformed into a global platform that contributes to enhancing the universal significance of the art of maqom.
Within the framework of the forum, an international competition of performers from 18 countries is held.
The program includes scientific and practical conferences and a forum for intercultural dialogue among members of the SCO. This cultural event is held once every two years, starting from 2018. The main goals of the forum are the broad popularization, preservation, and development of makom art, as well as the strengthening of cultural and scientific-creative cooperation at the international level. –0–
