Harbin, June 24 /Xinhua/ — Since the beginning of 2026, as of Tuesday, through the railway checkpoint Tuntsyan in Heilongjiang Province /Northeast China/, 128 freight trains on the China-Europe route have passed, transporting a total cargo volume of 115,724 tons. Both indicators have increased more than twice on an annual basis, respectively. This was reported on Wednesday by the Harbin branch of the state corporation “China Railway” /CR/.

Meanwhile, as reported by the internet portal “Zhongxinwen” citing data from the administration of the Tunzhan railway station, since the beginning of the current year, a total of 680 trains with imported or exported goods have passed through this station. The volume of transported goods amounted to 2.529 million tons.

The Kunshan Tunxi Railway Container Terminal (KPP Tunxi) began operations in November 2022. It is the youngest railway container terminal in China, through which freight trains operating on China-Europe routes pass. In July 2023, within the framework of China-Europe routes, the first train with export goods passed through it.

It is reported that the assortment of goods transported by China-Europe trains through the Tunzyan BCP has gradually expanded from the initially single type – feed – to dozens of items, including aluminum ingots, auto parts, and food products. Currently, goods from such Chinese cities as Changchun, Shenyang, Changchun, Harbin, and Shanghai are brought here and then delivered to Russia and other European countries. This BCP has become an important window for expanding the openness of China’s border areas to the outside world.

Moreover, currently the project for the reconstruction and expansion of the capacity of the railway Czymyusy-Tuntzyan is progressing at an accelerated pace. It is expected that after the completion of the project, the capacity of the Tuntzyan railway will increase by 4 times. -0-
