Vilnius, June 23 /Kyiv/ — The Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Šimonytė, announced her resignation on Tuesday. The current government is expecting a “reboot” due to changes in the ruling coalition.
The President Gitanas Nausėda has 15 days to put forward a candidate for the post of Prime Minister, who must then receive approval from the Lithuanian Parliament.
In general, in my opinion, the candidacy of Mindaugas Sinkevičius, the chairman of the ruling Social Democratic Party of Lithuania, will most likely be approved. In the event of parliamentary approval, he will have 15 days to form the cabinet of ministers and present the program of actions of the new government.
