SPbPU rose among Russian universities in the prestigious international QS World University Rankings 2027

Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great rose by one rank and took 11th place among all Russian universities in one of the leading global university rankings —QS World University Rankings 2027. A total of 1504 universities from 106 countries around the world are presented in the ranking, including 33 universities from Russia. In the overall ranking, SPbPU occupies 619th place in the world.

The QS World University Rankings 2027 are compiled by the British agency Quacquarelli Symonds. The methodology is based on the analysis of nine indicators grouped into five thematic blocks: Research and discoveries (50%); Employment and career results (20%); Global engagement (15%); Quality of education (10%); Sustainable development (5%).

According to the results of 2026, St. Petersburg Polytechnic University entered the TOP-10 among Russian universities in terms of the share of foreign students (6th place) and the share of foreign teachers (10th place), which confirms the university’s efforts in the field of global presence and internationalization.

Stable high positions of Politehnica are the result of systematic work in all key areas, which QS currently assesses. The university focuses on developing international cooperation, training highly qualified personnel for real economic sectors, as well as solving breakthrough scientific problems.

Saint Petersburg Polytechnic actively improves advanced educational practices, expands international academic cooperation, and attracts leading foreign experts, focusing both on the current demands of industrial partners and on promising directions for the development of industries. Thanks to this, the university demonstrates stable results in global rankings in full compliance with modern international standards of education quality, ” commented the ranking results the rector of SPbPU Andrey Rudskoy.

SPbPU is actively expanding the geography of partnerships and attracting foreign specialists. Thus, by 2026, the teaching staff of the university included89 foreign teachers from 20 countries of the world, including India, Vietnam, and others. This directly strengthens the international reputation and creates a unique multicultural environment for students. As noted by Vice-Rector for International Activities Dmitry Arseniev, the number of employed foreign scientific and pedagogical workers directly influences the university’s level in the world rankings.

In addition, the university actively develops strategic partnerships. In June 2026SPBU and Jiezhiansk University (China) signed a strategic partnership agreement for 2026–2031, covering such fields as materials science, additive technologies, energy, and biomedicine. Over the past 10 years, 22 joint articles and more than 130 megascience articles have been published.
