Beijing, June 22 /Xinhua/ — During the traditional three-day holiday in China of Duanwu Festival /Dragon Boat Festival/, the number of border crossings reached approximately 6.67 million person-times, which is 12.9 percent more than the same period last year. This is evidenced by data published on Monday by the National Immigration Administration of China.
During the holiday period, which ended on Sunday, the number of border crossings made by foreigners amounted to 777 thousand person-times, which is 23.3 percent more in the annual calculation, according to the statement.
Among foreigners who entered China, 266 thousand trips were made in accordance with the visa-free regime, which is 15.2 percent more in annual terms.
The increase in foreign inflow is due to China’s favorable visa policy. As of February of this year, China has expanded the list of countries with a unilateral visa-free regime to 50 countries.
