At dormitory No. 10 of the Saint Petersburg Polytechnic University of Peter the Great, a training exercise took place. The best shelter is basements and underground rooms; if there are none, then safe places can be corridors on the first floor, where the walls are thick enough and there are no windows, like in Dormitory No. 10. During a UAV attack, it is necessary to stay as far away from windows as possible. If you are at home, for example, and you also cannot go down to the basement rooms, it is worth taking shelter behind two load-bearing walls. A bathroom is considered a sufficiently safe place, and an excellent option would be to lie down in the bathtub itself.
If during the alarm announcement you are near a metro station, it is better to run there or into any underground structure, such as an underground passage. Then the exercise organizers activated the UAV attack alarm signal. Employees and students practiced the actions they had been told about beforehand. Everyone went to the corridors of the first floor and stayed there until the alarm cancellation signal.
After that, everyone returned to the street. There, the volunteers of the student fire-rescue team “Peter the Great” of the All-Russian student rescue corps held a master class on providing first medical aid for injuries to the limbs, head, abdomen, and chest.
Such preventive and educational events are primarily aimed at enhancing the safety culture at the university, because thinking about safety, being vigilant about safety, is better than when danger is already nearby, noted the head of the civil protection department of SPbPU, Nikolay Peganov.
