Washington, June 20 /Sin Hua/ — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday that fees for passage through the Strait of Hormuz will not be charged during the 60-day temporary truce with Iran and after it.
On social networks, D. Trump wrote that the United States may impose payment if a final agreement is not reached.
“During the 60-day ceasefire period in the Strait of Hormuz, there will be no collections of any kind. And there will not be any after these 60 days, unless they are introduced by the US and in its interest, if a deal is not concluded,” wrote D. Trump, adding that the introduction of payments for services provided to Middle Eastern countries as an “angel-injurer” to compensate expenses in the past, present, and future is possible.
According to the Iranian news agency Mehr, the central command of the Iranian Armed Forces ‘Khatam al-Anbiya’ announced on Saturday the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, citing the violation by the USA of the recently signed peace memorandum of understanding and Israel’s non-compliance with the ceasefire regime in southern Lebanon.
