Beijing, June 21 /Xinhua/ — The Ministry of Emergency Management of the PRC on Saturday activated the national emergency response system at level 4 in connection with possible geological disasters in the provinces of Anhui /East China/, Hubei /Central China/, Hunan /Central China/ and Guizhou /Southwest China/.
In China, there is a four-level emergency response system, where the first level is the most serious.
According to meteorological forecasts, heavy precipitation will fall on the regions from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guizhou Province to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
A joint assessment conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Management of the PRC and the Ministry of Natural Resources of the PRC showed that in some areas of the southern and western parts of Anhui Province, the southwestern and eastern parts of Hubei Province, the western part of Hunan Province, as well as the southern part of Guizhou Province, the risks of geological disasters are elevated.
The Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic called on local authorities to closely monitor the amount of precipitation, the situation with floods, and the risks of geological disasters.
