The “life situation” service for university admissions on the Gosuslugi portal has been expanded with new functions for the start of the 2026 admissions campaign. It now includes functions for searching by individual applicant number in the applicant list, automatic display of achievements such as participation in olympiads or possession of the GTO badge, as well as data on target quotas. Starting from 2026, the service on the “Gosuslugi” portal became the main electronic method for submitting documents to universities. The development of “life situations” is carried out within the framework of the federal project “State for the People”, which is overseen by the Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation – Head of the Office of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Grigorenko.

“Life situations” help people solve complex issues quickly and comprehensively. Entering a university is one of the most responsible steps in a person’s life. And the service for applicants on “Gosuslugi” helps make this process convenient, transparent, and clear so that everyone can focus on the main thing — their future education. We see the demand for the service: since its launch in 2024, it has already been used by more than 13 million people,” noted Dmitry Grigorenko.

In 2026, the “University Admissions” service expanded with three new features. First, applicants can instantly check their status on the admissions list using their individual number. This is relevant for those submitting documents to multiple universities. The new option helps quickly verify their place by number instead of searching for a surname in a long list. It also allows preserving confidentiality. Personal data does not appear in public sources.

One more new opportunity: the system automatically displays individual achievements, such as the GTO badge, volunteering, olympiads when submitting an application, and allows you to determine universities and specialties where these achievements are taken into account. Information about the additional score allows applicants to apply more easily and quickly to universities where these achievements increase the chances of admission.

Additionally, in 2026, the possibility appeared to track data on the number of submitted targeted applications, as well as on available places for the targeted quota. Now applicants no longer need to call the admissions committees to find out how many targeted applications have already been submitted. All the necessary information can be obtained on “Gosuslugi”. If there are more applicants for the quota than places, and the competition is too high, the applicant has a backup time to submit an application to other universities or for other specialties.

The “life situation” service for university admission on the Gosuslugi portal allows choosing among more than 1,800 universities and 1,100 specializations. Applications can be submitted for bachelor’s, specialist’s, master’s, and postgraduate programs. Also, for basic and specialized higher education programs, applications can be submitted to 17 universities participating in a pilot project for the implementation of a new higher education model. Applicants can use convenient filters to compare programs based on the form of study, availability of budget-funded places, passing scores from previous years, and other parameters.Unlike commercial counterparts, the service is completely free and provides official data from the state system.

“Life situations” is a modern principle of providing public services, in which all necessary services are combined in one place for a specific human task. Instead of contacting various departments and collecting certificates, a citizen receives a comprehensive solution on the public services portal. Thus, the “life situation” covers the entire path of an applicant — from choosing a specialty to submitting documents for enrollment without visits to admissions committees and with maximum transparency at each stage.
