London, June 20 /Xinhua/ — Two trains collided on Friday evening near Bedford in the United Kingdom, resulting in one person killed and 89 others injured. This was reported by the British East of England Ambulance Service.
Among the victims, 11 people sustained very serious injuries, 22 had serious injuries, and another 56 had minor injuries.
According to reports from British CMI, the collision of two passenger trains occurred around 17:15 local time. One of the witnesses told the BBC that he saw people with “bloodied faces” and, apparently, “with broken legs.”
The ambulance service reported that it had sent more than 20 ambulance vehicles to the incident site, specialized response teams to hazardous areas, and six medical helicopters.
“All patients with the most serious injuries are currently being transported from the scene to the hospital,” the service added.
According to British CMI data, the incident also caused serious disruptions in railway communication.
