M. Mishustin: Dear colleagues, friends!
I am pleased to welcome you to Russia, to Saint Petersburg, our Northern Capital, one of the largest cultural centers. It is precisely for this reason that the city was chosen as the venue for the International Conference on Strengthening Cultural Relations and Developing the Creative and Artistic Industries.
The topic is extremely important for all our states. As emphasized by the President of Russia Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, we have inherited a truly unique civilizational blend of traditions and customs, languages and literature, arts and folk creativity. And of course, our task is to maximally preserve this common multinational heritage and enrich it with new content.
We are connected by a centuries-old shared history. We very carefully and sensitively uphold the truth about the feat of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. We honor the heroism and courage of our ancestors who fought shoulder to shoulder against the fascist invaders.
Together we will create conditions for expanding direct contacts between citizens, so that people have more opportunities to learn about their nearest neighbors, friends, get acquainted with customs, art, and culture.
Cultural cross-days, specialized forums, and congresses are regularly organized. There are many interesting events, including contests and festivals. New initiatives are constantly being put forward. For example, our Uzbek friends proposed launching a creative-tourism corridor project from Samarkand to Saint Petersburg. Literally for days we communicated with the respected President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev…
