Beijing, June 18 /Xinhua/ — China will launch a new campaign to stimulate the sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in rural areas of the country by improving vehicle trade-in services and enhancing support for the use of NEVs in rural areas.
As part of the campaign, NEV automobile models with a good reputation and reliable quality, which meet the needs of use in rural areas, will be selected, the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the People’s Republic of China reported, which, together with four other government departments, is organizing this campaign.
Special sections will be created within the campaign for exchanging old cars for new ones, which will provide comprehensive services including inspection, evaluation, and disposal of used vehicles.
Also, cities at the district level will be selected where the penetration level of NEV vehicles remains relatively low, but the market potential is quite high, for conducting offline promotional events.
Scenarios for pilot consumption will be created, including demonstrations of cars and test drives, to attract consumers from nearby towns and villages to retail outlets.
Dealerships selling NEV vehicles, providers of after-sales technical service and repairs, enterprises offering battery charging and replacement services, as well as providers of insurance and credit services, will be invited to join the campaign aimed at further improving conditions and services for the use of NEV vehicles in rural areas. -0-
