Beijing, June 16 /Xinhua/ — A series of events within the framework of the China-Russia cultural exchanges in 2026 has been launched in the city of Changchun /administrative center of Jilin Province, Northeast China/, the Chinese news agency “China News Service” reported on its website.
A series of events involving sports competitions, artistic exchanges, familiarization with intangible cultural heritage, educational tours to rural areas, and more, will continue until December of the current year.
On June 13, at the Changchun University of Science and Technology, located in the city of Changchun, an event was held to exchange experience in the field of rock climbing. Nearly 50 teenagers from China and Russia participated in it, and this became the starting point for a series of subsequent events, which will last for approximately six months.
An official from the Department of Physical Culture, Sports and Training of the Sports Reserve of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Primorsky Krai noted that in recent years Primorsky Krai and the province of Cizilin have maintained close ties in the trade-economic and humanitarian spheres. The current trip of Russian teenagers to Cizilin, according to him, opened a new window for a deeper acquaintance with China.
It is reported that in the future, it is planned to hold the 2nd Chinese-Russian event for exchanges in the field of martial arts / wushu / among teenagers in the area of the Changbai Mountains, the 2nd Chinese-Russian football tournament among teenagers in the border city of Hunchun, an event for dance exchanges with the participation of Russian youth in the city of Yanji, a Chinese-Russian cultural exchange week in the city of Shulan, and the 2nd Chinese-Russian fruit harvest festival in the Shuanyang area of the city of Changchun.In addition, on the eve of the New Year, New Year’s parties will simultaneously be held in the cities of Changchun, Yanjingzi, and Hunchun, as well as in the area of Mount Chanbaishan, with the participation of representatives from China and Russia.
The Chairman of the Association for Foreign Cultural Exchanges of Tsilin Province, Yu Chunshen, noted that unofficial contacts are an important basis for the development of interstate relations. At the same time, he expressed hope that interaction in the fields of sports and culture and youth exchanges will contribute to deepening mutual understanding and will give new impetus to the development of humanitarian cooperation between China and Russia.
