Tashkent, June 15 /Xin Hua/ — Uzbekistan intends to implement 120 investment projects worth a total of 4.2 billion US dollars in the period 2026-2030, aimed at expanding the raw material base of critically important minerals and developing high-tech production. This was reported on Monday by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
According to macroeconomic forecasts, large-scale modernization of the sector will allow increasing production volume in this industry to 1 billion dollars by 2028 and subsequently bringing this figure up to 2 billion dollars by 2030.
This year, Uzbekistan plans to launch the first 12 projects totaling 166 million dollars. It is expected that their implementation will allow mastering the production of three new metals for the country — high-purity selenium, tellurium, and rhenium, as well as setting up the manufacture of 21 types of import-substituting products, including automobile components based on powder metallurgy.
It is noted that a special emphasis is placed on the formation of a complete chain in the field of tungsten and molybdenum processing. For this purpose, the activities of the Technopark “Metals of the Future” and the research and experimental design center / R&D / are being developed in the city of Chirchik, where necessary conditions will be created for the commercialization of scientific developments, support of startups, and production of innovative products. –0–
