Minsk, June 15 /Xin Hua/ — Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on Monday in Minsk with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which the parties discussed a wide range of international issues. The corresponding information was published on the same day by the press service of the head of the Belarusian state.
During the talks, A. Lukashenko noted the high level of cooperation between Belarus and Russia. In particular, A. Lukashenko expressed a desire to discuss the situation in the integration project, including the CSTO, EAEU, CIS, SCO, and also how the Russian side and S. Lavrov personally see its development.
In addition, the head of the Belarusian state announced a meeting with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in the near future. The parties also discussed the three-day summit of the “Group of Seven” countries that has begun in France.
In turn, S. Lavrov told journalists that he discussed the situation around the conflict in Ukraine with the President of Belarus. “We talked about international affairs. Undoubtedly, the situation around the Ukrainian crisis was at the center of attention,” quotes his words the BelTA news agency.
He noted that the war involving the West does not end, however, it is necessary to do everything so that justice prevails. According to him, the speech also addressed the role Western colleagues play in settling issues that go far beyond the immediate conflict in Ukraine and concern general principles of security in Europe and at the global level.
S. Lavrov stated that Europeans in the current situation are drawing erroneous conclusions that Russia is now losing, while Ukraine is winning, and therefore, in his opinion, ultimatums can be issued in the hope that Russia will accept them.
“President V. Putin has already expressed his opinion on this matter in several of his recent speeches at various events. These calculations, of course, have questionable purposes and are illusory. What was confirmed during the visit of the three ambassadors — from Britain, France, and Germany — to our ministry, with whom my deputy spoke. They brought nothing new. But they persistently try to offer their services, clearly not wanting to stay out of the process,” summarized S. Lavrov.
