Kyiv, June 15 /Xinhuanet/ — On the night of Monday, the Russian Armed Forces carried out a massive missile and drone strike on Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of at least 11 people, with another 53 injured. This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a “Telegram” post.
According to the Air Forces of Ukraine, during the day the Russian army used a total of 70 missiles of various types and 611 unmanned aerial vehicles. The main target of the strike was Kyiv, missile attacks were also carried out on Kharkiv and Dnipro.
Ukraine’s air defense forces were able to shoot down or suppress 50 missiles and 582 drones. Hits of 20 ballistic missiles and 27 strike drones were recorded at 42 locations.
Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that five people became victims of the Russian shelling in the city, and another 34 were injured. Damage has been recorded at approximately 50 locations.
In Kharkiv, a missile attack claimed the lives of five people, including four employees of the State Emergency Service, and 13 others were injured, according to Oleg Synegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
The operator company of the Ukrainian energy system “Ukrenergo” in turn stated that during the night to Monday, the Russian Federation also shelled energy infrastructure facilities. As a result, part of the residents of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia regions were left without power.
Russia, on its part, on the same day reported that its armed forces had carried out a massive strike on military-industrial complex targets in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipro in response to attacks by the Ukrainian side.
