Tehran, June 15 /Xin Hua/ — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on Sunday strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Dahiya district to the south of the Lebanese capital Beirut, which took place earlier that same day.

The ministry’s statement says that the “terrorist act” by Israel against a residential area in Dahiya, which resulted in several Lebanese civilians killed and wounded, is “a flagrant violation” not only of Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, but also of the April 8 agreement between Iran and the USA on the cessation of hostilities.

The MID stated that the USA and Israel will bear responsibility for the dangerous consequences of the attack, which threatens peace and security in the region.

Israeli military stated that they struck the headquarters of the “Hezbollah” movement in the Dahiya area.

Earlier this month, Israel carried out airstrikes on “Hezbollah” targets in Beirut. Iran responded with rocket fire on Israel, which became the most serious escalation between the two sides since the ceasefire.
