Xi’an, June 15 /Xin Hua/ — In 2026, it will be the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). From the establishment of frost-resistant greenhouses in Belarus to the planting of high-yield apple orchards in Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, in recent years China has been making constant efforts to promote cooperation within the framework of the SCO in the field of agriculture.
Visiting the exhibition hall of the Lisent Agricultural Technology company’s greenhouse, based in Shandong province /Eastern China/, the Belarusian entrepreneur Vladimir Naumenko, according to him, seemed to have been to the EXPO of “greenhouse technology achievements.” Later, he reached a cooperation agreement with the Lisent Agricultural Technology company.
“Our greenhouse technologies have already passed frost tests in Belarus. According to him, by the end of 2028, they plan to jointly build 100 hectares of modern greenhouses in Belarus.

After the establishment of the SCO demonstration base for the exchange and training in agricultural technologies here in 2019, Yanlin has become an important platform for exchange and cooperation among SCO countries in the field of agriculture.
Apples are a favorite delicacy of the inhabitants of Kyrgyzstan. Currently, the team of Professor Zhang Dun from the Northwest Agricultural and Forestry University located in Yanlin is growing 30 thousand seedlings of this fruit species in Kyrgyzstan. Thanks to the gardening technology developed by the professor, fruiting begins already in the second year after planting, and in the fourth year the gardens yield more than 52.5 tons per hectare.
“If earlier in Kyrgyzstan they preferred to import apple seedlings from Europe at a price higher than 50 yuan each, now we sell elite seedlings for just over 50 yuan, and standard ones for a little over 30 yuan. The goal of the project is to provide planting material for 10 thousand hectares of apple orchards in Bishkek,” shared Chzhan Dun.
In 2024, Xianheng Agricultural Science and Technology Company from Shaanxi Province, in collaboration with Yangling Modern Agriculture International Cooperation Group, supplied 6,000 apple seedlings to the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. The seedlings were planted in a two-sided agrotechnological demonstration park.
“Thanks to our cooperation with the Uzbek side, there is no longer a need to separately build infrastructure outside the country and independently carry out various procedures. We helped them plant seedlings within one month, reducing costs and increasing efficiency. The survival rate of this batch of seedlings also exceeds 90%.” – noted Min Liqiang, Chairman of the Board of Yangling Modern Agriculture International Cooperation Group.
Moreover, since the establishment of the SCO Demonstration Base for the exchange and training of agricultural technologies in Yanlin, more than 50 events on international exchange have been held, and the base has been visited by over 500 representatives from SCO countries, which has significantly contributed to regional exchange and cooperation in the field of agriculture.
According to the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, only in January 2026 China increased apple exports to the SCO countries by 58.7% year-on-year to 20.2 thousand tons, citrus by 121.5% to 90.4 thousand tons, and garlic by 4.8% to 26.2 thousand tons.
As stated by the director of the Institute of Eurasian Studies of the Chinese Academy of International Problems Li Cziyg, agricultural cooperation, combining the strong points of the SCO countries, promotes the implementation of the “Shanghai Spirit,” which is characterized by mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, mutual consultations, respect for cultural diversity, striving for joint development, and contributes to building a closer community with a shared future of the SCO.
