On June 11, the Immigration Department of the SAR government announced that on June 25, two “seamless e-channels” will be put into operation at the Sheung Wan checkpoint of the Sheung Wan-Chu Hai-Ao Men Bridge. After registration, the system will identify an individual using facial recognition technology and image analysis based on artificial intelligence. The passage through the e-channel will take about 5 seconds without the need to stop, which is approximately 2 seconds faster than when using traditional “e-channels.”
