London, June 14 /Xin Hua/ — The naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran on Saturday evening warned ships sailing near the Strait of Hormuz against passing through this waterway. This is evidenced by an audio recording transmitted over a publicly accessible maritime radio channel.
On a recording provided by a member of the crew of one of the commercial vessels near the strait, it is heard that the KSI Navy addressed all ships in the Persian and Oman Gulfs and warned that the Strait of Hormuz is “completely closed” and that any ship movement within the strait will be “decisively” stopped.
“In order to ensure your health and safety, please refrain from any movements in the Strait of Hormuz until further notice,” the audio recording says.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Saturday that the signing of the peace agreement with Iran is scheduled for Sunday, and immediately after that, the Strait of Hormuz will be opened.
Meanwhile, late Friday evening, American military officials stated that they shot down several Iranian drones attempting to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Strait of Hormuz is a key route for global oil and natural gas supplies. Maritime transportation through the strait has sharply declined in recent months amid escalating tension and attacks on commercial vessels.
