Xiamen, June 13 /Xinhua/ — The Chairman of the All-China Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wang Huning, on Saturday called for promoting the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait and the reunification of the Motherland.

Van Xunin, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China / CCP Central Committee, made such a call at the plenary session of the 18th Taiwan Strait Forum, which took place on June 13 in the city of Xiamen, Fujian Province / East China.

Noting that both shores of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China, Wan Huning called for decisive opposition to separatist activities aimed at the “independence of Taiwan”, as well as to external interference, and also for joint efforts to protect and develop the common home of the Chinese nation.

He stated that the mainland part of China is ready to share opportunities and achievements in development with Taiwanese compatriots and welcomes their participation in cross-strait exchanges, cooperation, and integrated development.

Van Hunin expressed hope that compatriots from both shores of the strait, especially the youth, will continue to strengthen the sense of national, cultural, and state identity, as well as, through joint efforts, contribute to the great revival of the Chinese nation.
