Jerusalem, June 13 /Xin Hua/ — Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Friday that Israeli troops will not leave the “security zones” that they hold in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza.

In his statement, the minister called this decision a response to the threat and a lesson drawn from the Hamas movement’s attack on October 7, 2023, stating that the army will continue to defend the borders and citizens of Israel.

He added that Israel also does not intend to withdraw troops from refugee camps in the northern part of the west bank of the Jordan River, and in case of necessity, this measure will be expanded to other “terror” camps.

Speaking about the ongoing American-Iranian negotiations, I. Katz stated that Israel expects that US President Donald Trump will defend common American-Israeli interests aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, as well as restraining Tehran’s missile program and its “proxy forces” in the region.

The minister noted that in order to achieve this goal, Israel must maintain the ability to act “independently,” and that he, together with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, gave instructions to the military to prepare accordingly. –0–
