Almaty, June 12 /Xin Hua/ — Deputy Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Sanjar Zharkeshov stated at the 7th Coal Industry Forum of Kazakhstan in Astana that the potential of the country’s coal industry is estimated at 25 billion US dollars. This was reported by the Kazinform agency on Friday.
According to him, deep coal processing remains one of the most promising directions for the development of the industry.
He noted that Kazakhstan will be open for international cooperation in the coal sector, including technology transfer, development of export markets, and personnel training. To coordinate the work, it is proposed to create an industry platform involving the state, business, and the scientific community.
According to data from the Republican Association of Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises of Kazakhstan, nearly 29 million tons of coal were mined in the country in the first three months of 2026, and the export volume amounted to 7.1 million tons. –0–
