There are about 7 thousand cars in the capital’s metro in total, of various series, with 80% of the trains being new. On the Zamoskvoretskaya line, we continue to gradually update the rolling stock:
- For the first time, the most modern “Moscow-2026” trains entered the green line in December of last year. And today, the jubilee 200th car of the newest “Moscow-2026” series has been put into service in the metro.
- Now the share of modern trains on the Zamoskvoretskaya line has exceeded 70%, and the rolling stock fleet counts 208 cars of this series.
- Among the advantages are through aisles and wide doors, more than 400 charging sockets for devices, updated seats without metal joints, and a 10% increased capacity of the carriages.

Before being put on the line, each new train undergoes a trial run. It must cover at least 300 km without any remarks from metro specialists — this is one of the strictest safety requirements in the world.
“The latest trainsets of the ‘Moscow-2026’ series, produced in Russia, are among the most technological and reliable metro trains. We are consistently updating the rolling stock of the capital’s metro in line with the task set by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. (https://t.me/mos_sobyanin/19641) Since 2010, the share of modern trains in the Moscow metro has increased from approximately 13% to 80%. By 2030, this figure will exceed 90%. In 2026–2027, the metro will receive more than 700 carriages, which will complete the renewal of the Zamoskvoretskaya line and will operate on the future Rublyovo-Arkhangelskaya line,” noted Maksim Liksutov.
