Tashkent, June 12 /Xin Hua/ — On Friday, a conference was held in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, within the framework of the Forum of Civilizations of Harmony and Cooperation 2026.
More than 200 representatives of scientific, cultural, political, and business circles from China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Russia participated in the event.
The forum was organized jointly by the International Confucian Association and the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. The theme of the forum is “The Wisdom of Harmony and Cooperation and the High-Quality Development of the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative.”
The Chairperson of the International Confucian Association, Sun Chunlan, noted in a video message that the cultures of Central Asian countries as well as China are imbued with ideas of peace, unity, and mutual tolerance. Over more than two thousand years, China and the peoples of Central Asia have jointly contributed to the emergence and prosperity of the Great Silk Road. Today, the “China-Central Asia community of shared destiny” is mutual respect, mutual trust, mutual benefit, and mutual assistance with the goal of promoting joint modernization through high-quality development, and this opens up new horizons for regional cooperation.
The Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (lower house of parliament) of Uzbekistan, Rasim Hakimov, in his speech emphasized that the forum being discussed, the “China-Central Asia Dialogue,” embodies the idea of good neighborliness, mutual respect, and joint development.
Ambassador of China to Uzbekistan You Cun emphasized that the high-quality development of cooperation between China and the countries of Central Asia in recent years serves as a living embodiment of the “wisdom of harmony and cooperation.” Linked by common mountains and rivers, China and the states of Central Asia have laid a solid civilizational foundation for friendly interaction over millennia.
The diplomat noted that the parties consistently bring to life the “China-Central Asia Community,” continuously strengthening political mutual trust, deepening practical cooperation, and facilitating inter-civilizational dialogue. According to him, joint efforts to maintain regional stability open new horizons for building a closer community with a shared destiny for China and Central Asia.
The forum program concluded with the work of four thematic platforms. Within the framework of the scientific track, participants discussed in detail the historical roots and contemporary significance of the “Chinese-Central Asian belt.” –0–
