Washington, June 11 /Xin Hua/ — The Pentagon building /headquarters of the U.S. Department of Defense/ was partially closed on Thursday for a few hours, and some rooms were evacuated due to an air quality problem detected inside the building. This was reported by American media.

As reported by the CNN channel citing three sources familiar with the situation, several floors and corridors inside the Pentagon were closed for security and evacuation was conducted in other areas.

According to CNN, Pentagon official Sean Parnell said on Thursday that the systems inside the building “recorded an air quality issue, which required precautionary measures to be taken until the severity of the problem is determined.”

The Washington publication WTOP News and other media reported that a shelter-in-place mode was activated at the Pentagon after systems recorded a “problem with air quality.” –0–
