In recent days, wheat in China has been gradually ripening from the south to the north, revealing a picture of a bountiful harvest.

In the village of Sinyutsyan in the Indun district, the wheat harvest season is the most intense time of year for the female combine operator Lyan Humei, who was born in the 1990s. “I go to bed around midnight and get up at 5 a.m.” At a temperature of 35 degrees in the field there is unbearable heat, and waves of heat sweep over. However, she confidently operates the combine: shifting gears, moving forward, harvesting the crop, unloading the grain. All actions are performed smoothly, and her face is covered with drops of sweat.

Lyan Hunmei has seven years of experience as a graphic designer. After returning home and meeting her future husband, who was engaged in farming, she decided to settle in her native region. Starting with helping her husband, she gradually became a professional meal organizer. Answering a question about returning to work on the land, Lyan Hunmei said: “Young people should all the more diligently study and use technology to help agricultural production.”

Adhering to the principle of agricultural development through technology, Lian Hunmei, together with her husband, became the initiator of creating a professional cooperative of farmers and a family farm. They united 60 farms and more than 100 farming units and built, based on the model “farmers + cooperative + market,” a comprehensive agro-service system, ensuring full mechanization of the entire fieldwork process — from tillage, sowing and crop care to harvesting.

Actively engaged in agriculture, Lyan Hunmei also wholeheartedly takes care of her family: she takes the children to school and picks them up, helps them with lessons, does household chores… With a smile, she says that she will do everything possible to accompany the children on the path to adulthood and support them in entering the university of their dreams.

Such “new farmers” like Lyan Hunmei invest their youth and energy in the development of their homeland, revealing the beauty of their lives through hard work.
