The team from the architecture faculty of SPbGASU took first place in the final of the interuniversity team clause “Urban Planning Challenge” on June 6 as part of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The organizer of the competition was the Unified Scientific Research and Project Institute of Spatial Planning of the Russian Federation. In the final, teams from six universities participated, who had to offer their vision of the development of the territory of the year-round seaside resort “Gorskaya Marina.”
For one and a half weeks, participants together with mentors conducted an on-site survey of the territory, analyzed its urban planning and economic potential, studied global experience in creating year-round resorts, and developed conceptual proposals for the development of the future social and recreational space.
SPBGASU at the competition was represented by the “ARHouse” team consisting of students from the Faculty of ArchitectureAnny Nosova, Vasilisa Koval, Anna Primak, Ivan FedyashovиKirill Mezyankin.The team was led by a senior lecturer of the Department of History and Theory of ArchitectureIvan Minniev.
Based on the results of a comprehensive territorial analysis, students developed the concept of a multifunctional international-level seaside resort. The project envisions the creation of the largest year-round water, entertainment, and educational complex in Northern Europe, including an oceanarium, a dolphinarium with a marine mammal rehabilitation center, an imitation diving center, a surfing pool, an underwater archaeology museum, an educational center, and an IT cluster.
The authors also proposed the formation of a modern residential environment with hotels, apartments, and a system of canals with individual berths for small vessels. The concept included the museum “Small Road of Life”, an ornithological station, and the site of the “Lenfilm” film studio.
The model prepared by the team attracted great interest from visitors to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. The project presented by the students of SPbGASU also received high praise from the jury.
As a result of the voting, the “AR House” team took first place. As a reward, the students received an invitation from the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation to visit Moscow with an introductory program. The jury members particularly noted the high level of preparation of the participants, the quality of project solutions, and the professionalism of the SPbGASU team.
