A historic festival has begun in the capital“Times and Epochs”, organized within the framework of the project“Summer in Moscow”. It will continue until June 14. More than 30 central and district venues will undergo reconstruction of famous battles, educational master classes, lectures, exhibitions, theatrical performances, and much more. Part of the events is dedicated to Russia Day, notedNatalya Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of Moscow.
“The festival will include more than a thousand reenactors. They will introduce the residents and guests of the capital to the everyday life and key events of various periods: from the era of Ancient Rus to the 20th century,” said Natalya Sergunina.
On the flagman platform in the landscape park “Mitino,” events of the Patriotic War of 1812 will be reconstructed daily, including the battle for the town of Maloyaroslavets. In addition, Muscovites and tourists are invited to watch training sessions of Russian and French cavalry and also attend lectures on the culture of the 19th century.
In the “Raduga” park, guests are awaited by the atmosphere of Ancient Rus of the 9th–13th centuries. Here operate blacksmith, archery, leather, and candle workshops. Visitors are invited to get acquainted with the features of traditional crafts. In addition, large-scale battles between squads have been prepared for the audience.
In the “Moskino” cinema park, the “Russian Empire on the eve of 1914” area is open. Here you can see military drills, an exhibition of equipment and weapons, as well as tents and field camps.
The venue in the Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo park is dedicated to the theatrical art of the early 20th century. Visitors can expect concerts, street performances, literary readings, gymnasts’ acts, miming, and circus acts.
Part of the festival program became the special project “Behind the Scenes Stories”, which united several venues at once. At the exhibition on Revolution Square, one can learn about how cinematographers and photographers worked during the Great Patriotic War. On Chistoprudny Boulevard, an exposition unfolded, inspired by the culture of the Silver Age.
