Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held a working meeting with the Governor of Kherson Oblast Vladimir Saldo. The main topics of the meeting were the agro-industrial complex, the development of rural areas, and ensuring environmental well-being.
Kherson Oblast is an agricultural region with great potential. According to the results of last year, the region harvested about 1.2 million tons of cereals and legumes.
In 2026, more than 420 thousand hectares were sown with spring crops. The sowing plan was fully completed; currently, farmers are already preparing for the harvest. Dmitry Patrushev drew attention to the necessity of fully providing farmers with fuel, mineral fertilizers, plant protection products, and other material and technical resources throughout the entire season.
Since 2025, the implementation of a comprehensive rural development state program has begun in the Kherson region. Last year, the measures affected about 140 settlements in the region, thereby improving living conditions for about 250 thousand people. This year, 500 million rubles from the federal budget are allocated for these purposes.
At the meeting, the regional environmental agenda was also discussed, including the protection and development of specially protected natural areas, such as “Askania-Nova,” the “Askanian” nature reserve, the Black Sea biosphere reserve, and the Azov-Syvash National Park.
Dmitry Patrushev said that additional funds from the Government reserve fund will be allocated for the development of these protected areas. Financing, among other things, will be directed at the restoration of natural components, including steppe ecosystems, the coasts of the Azov and Black Seas, wetlands, and bird migration sites.
Also, the vice-premier and the governor of the Kherson region touched upon issues of the forestry complex and the formation in the region of an effective system for handling waste.
