Fuzhou, June 10 /Xinhua/ – The Ministry of Transport of the PRC announced on Wednesday that the special maritime operation in the waters east of Taiwan Island has been completed.
From June 6 to 10, the Ministry of Transport of the PRC organized maritime services of Fujian and Guangdong provinces to carry out patrol and law enforcement missions in the waters east of Taiwan Island.
The special operation was aimed at the full implementation of China’s maritime administrative jurisdiction, strengthening the potential for long-range patrolling and law enforcement activities, increasing the level of control over shipping in key water areas, ensuring the safety of vessel movement in the maritime space, and protecting the rights and interests of the country.
This special operation was an inevitable response to the statement by Japan and the Philippines regarding the so-called “maritime boundary negotiations” in relation to the waters east of the Chinese island of Taiwan, which seriously violated China’s territorial sovereignty, as well as its maritime rights and interests.
During the operation, 1030 nautical miles were covered, 198 vessels were inspected, and violations involving three vessels were resolved, which contributed to strengthening the legal and transport-control potential in the waters east of Taiwan Island, as well as further enhancing the security level of maritime navigation. -0-
