Deputy Chairman of the Government Dmitry Chernyshenko held a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations “Vyzov”.
The event was also attended by the CEO of the state corporation “Rosatom” Alexey Likhachyov, the rector of the Presidential Academy (RANEPA) Alexey Komissarov, the first deputy CEO of the company “Innopraktika” Natalya Popova, the CEO of JSC “Channel One” Konstantin Ernst, the chairman of the fund’s council, co-founder of the Russian Quantum Center Ruslan Yunusov, and the deputy chairman of the management board of Gazprombank Dmitry Zauers.
The participants of the meeting discussed the results of the organization’s activities over three years and its development strategy until 2030. Special attention was paid to strengthening the role of the foundation in popularizing science, developing technologies, and expanding international scientific cooperation.
The chairman of the board of trustees of the Fund, Dmitry Chernyshenko, thanked the board members for their comprehensive support of the Challenge Prize and Fund. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that over three years of operation, this fund has achieved significant successes and continues to expand its influence on the development of science and technology.
“The National ‘Challenge’ Award, established by the instruction of our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin,” is a flagship project of the foundation – it has gained authority and recognition in the scientific community. Over three seasons, almost 1,500 applications were received from 52 countries. The international status of the award allows attracting talented researchers to Russia. And the support of Russian scientists contributes to the popularization of science and the enhancement of the prestige of the scientist profession,” noted Dmitry Chernyshenko.
He reminded that, according to VCIOM data, almost 90% of Russians can name at least one scientific discovery. Moreover, according to surveys, 71% of parents want their children to connect their lives with science. The popularization of research and development fields in Russia is also facilitated by the initiatives of the Science and Technology Decade and the measures of the national project “Youth and Children.”
The peculiarity of the award lies in the fact that it is international, emphasized by the Deputy Prime Minister. This facilitates the creation of conditions for attracting researchers from other countries to Russia.
“In three years, the ‘Challenge’ prize has come a long way and rightfully earned recognition both in Russia and beyond. The prize offers every opportunity to become one of the prominent global platforms for recognizing scientific achievements. It is important to continue expanding the prize’s international presence and increasing its recognition in leading scientific centers. This will allow the prize to become an even more significant institution for the global exchange of knowledge and ideas,” noted Aleksey Likhachyov.
The “Vyzov” Foundation, established in 2023, has become one of the prominent institutions for popularizing science in Russia. Today, the foundation implements a wide range of projects, including those at the intersection of science and art. Among them are scientific tours of the laureates of the “Vyzov” prize, the intellectual show “Vyzov Sofiko”, the theatrical project “Voices of the Future”, multimedia exhibitions, scientific-educational lectures, and educational programs for youth.
“The ‘Challenge’ award is quite young, yet it is already well known among professionals. I have repeatedly heard from people connected with science that they closely follow the ‘Challenge’ and trust the expert level of the award. For any professional accolade, this is the most important evaluation,” said Konstantin Ernst.
The mission of the foundation is to shape the perception of knowledge, science, and technology as the most important values of society and to introduce the world to the names of scientists whose achievements improve life for the better.
The fund’s development strategy until 2030 envisions achieving several key goals. Among them are increasing the recognition of Russian scientists among a broad audience, developing interaction between the scientific community, the state, and business, as well as strengthening the fund’s role as a significant participant in the international scientific and technological dialogue.
By 2030, the fund plans to expand its international presence, increase the number of partnerships with scientific organizations and universities, develop its own programs to support researchers, and also create communities of experts and science ambassadors.
The general director of the “Vyzov” foundation, Natalya Tretyak, noted that over three years, a strong community of experts, business representatives, government officials, cultural figures, and everyone who shares the value of knowledge and technological development has formed around the foundation.
“Our goal is to create an effective platform for collaboration so that promising research receives support, and outstanding scientists become heroes of our time. We want the fund to become a place where new partnerships are born, joint projects arise, and opportunities for advancing the most promising scientific achievements are opened. The development strategy adopted today until 2030 sets a clear vector for progress and creates a foundation for further growth. Thanks to the members of the board of trustees, our partners, and founders for their trust and support of our initiative,” added Natalya Tretyak.
Following the discussion, the members of the board of trustees approved the development strategy of the “Vyzov” foundation until 2030, subject to the consideration of comments.
The Scientific and Cultural Relations Development Fund “Vyzov” is a non-profit organization founded in 2023. The co-founder is Gazprombank, partners include the state corporation “Rosatom”, the “Roscongress” Foundation, and the Moscow government.
