Beijing, June 8 /Xinhua/ — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Monday delivered a video message to participants of the global thematic event on the occasion of the International Day of Dialogue between Civilizations 2026, calling to promote mutual understanding and cultivate mutual trust through dialogue.

Van Yi, who is also a member of the CPC Central Committee Politburo, called on all sides to assist in cohesion and strive for consensus through exchanges, as well as to continuously strengthen the cultural and humanitarian foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind in the face of unprecedented challenges confronting the development of human civilization.

The head of the Chinese foreign affairs department announced that the Chinese side advocates for the promotion of dialogue between civilizations in four aspects.

First, as Van I pointed out, it is necessarily important to firmly adhere to mutual respect and contribute to the harmonious coexistence of different civilizations. One should uphold a civilizational concept based on equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness.

Secondly, the head of the MID KN continued, it is necessary to firmly adhere to a human-centered approach and strengthen the foundation of intercivilizational exchanges. It is important to promote mutual understanding and rapprochement of peoples from different countries so that the results of exchanges and mutual learning between civilizations bring broader and more direct benefits to people.

China is ready to jointly strengthen intercivilizational dialogue with all countries, deepen exchanges of experience in the sphere of public administration, resolve complex issues of ecology and hand in hand expand the path of global modernization, Wang Yi indicated.

In the third part, the Chinese diplomat called for firmly adhering to continuity and renewal, strengthening the driving force of civilizational progress. He assured that China would help all countries in implementing creative transformation and innovative development, as well as improving traditional cultures.

In the fourth, Van I added an indisputable firm commitment to exchanges and mutual learning, improving the mechanisms of intercivilizational dialogue.

The Chinese side supports the further effective use of such platforms as the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the Forum of Ancient Civilizations, so that they play an important role in inter-civilizational dialogue, emphasized the head of the MFA of China.
