Moscow, June 7 /Tass/ — Late Sunday evening, seismologists recorded three earthquakes within 10 minutes off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The magnitude of the strongest of them reached 6.4, and the epicenters were located 366-381 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. This was reported by the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
As clarified, the first earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred at 22:41 local time. Its epicenter was located 381 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, with a hypocenter depth of 37.3 km. Five minutes later, at 22:46, seismologists recorded the second earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6, with the epicenter 366 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and a hypocenter depth of 37.5 km. The third earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 occurred another five minutes later at 22:51. This time, the epicenter was located 367 km from the city, with a hypocenter depth of 21 km.
According to reports from Russian CMI, information about a possible perceptible shock in the settlements of the region is being clarified, operational data on destruction or casualties has not yet been received. –0–
