Tehran, June 6 /Sina UA/ — The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on Saturday that earlier on the same day, it attacked American military bases in Kuwait and Basra in response to U.S. strikes on the island of Qeshm and Sirik in the south of Iran.
As reported on the official news portal of the IRGC Sepah News, the targets of the strikes were the American air base Ali Al-Salem in Kuwait and the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet in Bahrain.
On Saturday at 13:30 local time / 22:00 GMT Friday / four oil tankers under the guidance of the US Armed Forces attempted to “illegally leave the Strait of Hormuz, without coordinating their actions and ignoring repeated warnings from the IRGC Navy,” the message says.
After warnings, one of the oil tankers was fired upon, and the other ships turned back. It is noted that after this incident, American drones attacked communication towers on the island of Qeshm and in Sirik at 2:30 local time / 23:00 GMT on Friday.
In response, the aerospace unit of the CSI immediately launched ballistic missiles at the Ali al-Salem airbase and other important objects of the US Fifth Fleet headquarters, the message says.
The US Central Command wrote on the social network X that on Friday American forces struck several Iranian radar sites.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kuwait reported that the country’s air defense systems intercepted missiles and drones on Saturday.
