Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko took part in the opening of the fifth season of the exhibition “Science in Person” at the venue of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). The Vice Prime Minister also evaluated the work of the stands of Rosmolodezh and the Russian Ministry of Sports, took part in the ceremonial launch of the forum’s invitational campaign “Russia – a sporting power” and announced the results of the application campaign for the National Award in the field of future technologies “Challenge”.
The exhibition “Science in Faces” featured portraits of 32 Russian scientists whose research and developments were recognized with high awards in the field of science.
“The anniversary exhibition ‘Science in Faces’ is a very important event in the series of activities for the Decade of Science and Technology announced by our President. It claims to be one of the brightest, a certain gem among others. Here are shown the faces of our scientists that the whole country should know. We know some of them personally, interact in work and have participated in various events. Thanks to such events that popularize science through its heroes, we get results. According to VTsIOM data, almost 90% of our citizens could name at least one scientific discovery.”And our heroes today vividly demonstrate the results to our citizens. The project will also be presented at the Congress of Young Scientists. I wish for it to continue developing further,” emphasized Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, Secretary of the Coordination Committee of the Decade of Science and Technology, Denis Sekirinsky, noted the growing interaction between science and the real economic sector.
One of the main trends of the Decade of Science and Technology has become the development of interaction between science, the state, and business. Demand for scientific research is driven by the needs of production and the market, and business has learned not only to act as a qualified customer but also independently create scientific divisions, produce science-intensive products, and nurture scientific personnel. Under such conditions, the need for qualified scientific personnel can only grow, along with the quantity and quality of scientific achievements. This is also demonstrated today by the exhibition “Science in the Face,” where we honor the authors of breakthrough scientific developments,” said Denis Sekirinsky.
The opening of the exhibition was also attended by the senior vice president, head of the “Technological Development” block of PJSC Sberbank, Andrey Belevtsev, deputy director of the Roscongress Foundation, director of the SPIEF Alexey Valkov.
Throughout the year, portraits of outstanding scientists will be seen by visitors to the largest public spaces in Moscow: VDNH, Sokolniki Park, and Gorky Central Park of Culture and Leisure, passengers of the Moscow metro. The exhibition is also presented on the premises of federal universities in the regions of Russia. The ‘Science in Faces’ season will conclude at the VI Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held at the Sirius Science and Technology University from November 25 to 27, 2026.
Also, at the SPIEF, the results of the application campaign for the National Prize in the field of future technologies “Challenge” were announced. The prize fund in 2026 amounts to 65 million rubles – 13 million in each of the five nominations. The names of the laureates will be announced at the award ceremony of the “Challenge” prize in the Moscow Manege in December.
The interest in the national “Vyzov” award this year is enormous. About 1,500 applications were submitted. This is almost 2.5 times more than last year. The geography is expanding: scientists from 79 regions of our country have applied. The “Vyzov” award confidently involves researchers from all over the world in its orbit. Applications in the international nomination this year came from 47 countries. This confirms that science has no boundaries. It is nice to note that science is getting younger. Half of the applications for the “Vyzov” award are from participants under 45 years old. The leader among all nominations is “Engineering Solution.” This indicates a great interest in this area in Russia.”Let this prestigious award become not only a recognition of the merits of outstanding scientists and engineers, but also an incentive for new discoveries,” emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, together with Minister of Sports Mikhail Degtyaryov, Governor of Krasnoyarsk Krai Mikhail Kotyukov, and Director of the “Roscongress” Foundation Alexander Stuglev, took part in the ceremonial launch of the forum’s invitation campaign “Russia – a Sporting Power.”
The Rad welcomes you to the impressive stand of the Ministry of Sports, which further emphasizes the importance of upcoming events – the return of Russian sport to the world arena and the creation of new major sporting events. Every year, the event “Russia – a Sporting Power” takes place, traditionally bringing together representatives of sports, international organizations from around the world, and, above all, from our country. This year, this important event will be held in hospitable Krasnoyarsk, a city that earned this right as a result of a difficult selection process.”This is a city where significant sporting events have taken place, including the Winter Universiade. There is infrastructure, there is a desire, so today we will solemnly announce the start of the invitation campaign. Have a good journey, friends!” – stated the Vice Premier.
Dmitry Chernyshenko also evaluated the work of the “Rosmolodezh.Predprinimay” stand at SPIEF, which reflects the concept of “House of Creators” — an immersive space in apartment format. Each room is completely decorated with products from more than 70 young entrepreneurs from 89 regions of Russia. They are participants of the “Created by the Young” project.Among those who represent their brands are Maxim Natchuk, founder of “Skadi Tech” (a brand of smart glasses with mixed and augmented reality used in the oil and gas industry), Evgeny Sobolev, co-founder of the Scanderm biotech studio, Anna Tsymbalyuk, founder of the brand of handmade decorative products made from clay and wood Svoy design.
