Jakarta, June 4 /Xin Hua/ — Indonesia on Thursday condemned Israel’s plan to expand the occupation of the Gaza Strip to 70 percent of the territory, stating that this step violates international law and undermines efforts to achieve peace.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Sugiiono, noted that this plan contradicts the principle of “two states for two peoples,” which Jakarta supports as the basis for resolving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
“These are illegal measures carried out by Israel,” the Sugiyono statement says.
Indonesia is committed to promoting peace and supporting the independence of Palestine through international diplomatic channels, emphasized the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Jakarta calls on the international community to activate efforts to resolve the conflict and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, he added. –0–
