Young scientists of the GUU on the first day of the Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) discussed cooperation with the Saint Petersburg Mining University named after Empress Catherine II.

Head of the Department of Coordination of Scientific Research (UKNI), senior lecturer of the Department of Logistics and Transport-Technological Systems Maksim Pletnyov and deputy head of UKNI, associate professor of the same department Aleksey Akulov were invited to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum as members of the Youth Council under the Expert Council under the Government of the Russian Federation.

On June 3, young scientists from GUG visited the Saint Petersburg Mining University named after Empress Catherine II, where they familiarized themselves with the university’s material and technical base and discussed possible areas of cooperation.

In the research laboratory of the Department of Transport Technology Processes and Machines, laboratory setups of diesel and gasoline engines, electric systems of electric vehicles, gas systems, and other transport laboratory equipment were demonstrated to the guests.

At the Department of Information Technologies, employees of GUU were told about the methods and technologies used for conducting research and modeling. In particular, they were introduced to the capabilities of the innovative Competence Center “BELAZ”, which operates based on the Saint Petersburg Mining University: digital twins, training cabins, training laboratories with augmented reality, laboratories for studying working conditions and features of the operation of electric motors of BELAZ equipment.

As part of a working meeting, scientists from GUU and employees of the Department of Transport-Technological Processes and Machines of the Mining University discussed vectors of interaction between universities, highlighting priority areas in the scientific and educational sphere.

Thus, within the framework of research work, the parties considered the development of digital twins, neural network models, and the study of decision support systems to be the most interesting.

In the field of education, participants considered the possibility of developing and advancing joint and network educational programs, as well as programs for additional education and professional development.
