Tbilisi, June 3 /Xin Hua/ — The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development /EBRD/ has raised its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth in 2026 by 0.5 percentage points — to 6 percent. This was reported on Wednesday by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Vasil Tsinadze, with reference to the bank’s updated assessment.
According to him, the ECB noted high economic activity in the country in the first quarter of the current year. During the specified period, Georgia’s economy grew by 9.1 percent.
“Against the backdrop of the implementation of large infrastructure projects, we expect to see a high rate of economic growth in 2026-2027,” stated V. Tsinetsadze.
He emphasized that despite the existing geopolitical challenges in the world and the region, the Georgian economy continues to demonstrate stable growth thanks to the government’s consistent economic policy and the structural reforms being implemented.
As V. Tsintsadze reported, the average economic growth of Georgia in 2021-2025 amounted to 9.3%. “Our task is to embed this positive dynamic into the long-term perspective,” he added.
