China is steadily moving towards becoming the world’s leading “electric power.” As recently noted by the Australian publication “Pearls and Irritations,” thanks to its advance planning, China has effectively reduced the risks associated with the potential closure of energy routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Being a country with a constantly growing demand for energy, China has long realized the danger of dependence on external energy channels and has adopted a reasonable strategy, massively investing in renewable energy sources, high-speed railways, and electric vehicles to promote the electrification of the economy.

The length of high-speed railways in China has exceeded 50 thousand km, which is more than in the rest of the countries of the world combined, and this has significantly reduced dependence on aviation fuel.

At the same time, there are more and more electric vehicles on the country’s roads. By 2025, the share of new energy vehicles in the total volume of new car sales in China will exceed 50%, and even long-haul trucks are actively transitioning to electrification.

China is becoming the world’s first “electric power.” In terms of its significance, this is comparable to the industrial revolution. This energy supply model is based on renewable energy sources, and China is a world leader in research and implementation. By 2025, about 60% of all new renewable energy capacity in the world will belong to China.

The energy crisis also stimulated the export of equipment for environmentally clean energy from China, including photovoltaic panels, wind turbines, batteries, and electric vehicles. Thanks to the electrification of the economy, China significantly reduced the consequences of a blockade of the Hormuz or Malacca straits. While the sun shines and the wind blows, China’s energy needs can be satisfied.

In addition, thanks to the joint construction within the framework of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, China has created a number of railway transport routes across the Eurasian continent. In the field of energy security, thanks to a well-thought-out strategy, China has not only practically avoided suffering from international instability but has also become even stronger.
