Kyiv, May 28 /Syn Khua/ — Ukraine intends to purchase 150 Gripen multirole fighters from Sweden. This was announced on Thursday by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a joint press conference with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, according to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
According to V. Zelensky, the purchase of aircraft will be financed by a loan of 90 billion euros, which official Kyiv hopes to receive from the European Union in 2026-2027.
The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the first Gripen fighters with the appropriate weapons systems could be delivered to Ukraine within the next ten months.
