Jerusalem, May 28 /Xin Hua/ — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Thursday that he has ordered the Israeli army to expand control over the Gaza Strip from 60 to 70 percent of the territory.

Speaking at a conference in the Jordan Valley on the west bank of the Jordan River, B. Netanyahu pointed out that Israel already controlled 50 percent of the territory of the Palestinian enclave, and at the present moment this figure has increased to 60 percent.

Then B. Netanyahu addressed the audience with a question about the next goal. Some of those present chanted: “100 percent!” In response, the Israeli Prime Minister said: “We will act in order: first 70 percent. We will start with that. Now we are firmly squeezing HAMAS from all sides, then we will figure out what remains of it.”

B. Netanyahu added that Israel is in a state when it can use its power in many directions, and it still needs to defeat the “Hezbollah” movement once again.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli military forces stated in a declaration that during a strike on May 26 in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip, the head of the central network for transferring Hamas’s financial resources, Iyad Kharisim, was eliminated.
