Tehran, May 28 / Xinhua/ — The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced on Wednesday that, with permission, 23 vessels have passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours.

Oil tankers, as well as container ships and trading vessels, moved in coordination with the IRGC forces and under their protection, according to a statement by the Navy, published on the official news portal of the Sepah News Corps.

The UN also noted that Iran continuously and powerfully exercises reasonable control over the Strait of Hormuz, adding that “the aggression and malice of the US terrorist army are the main reasons for the lack of security in the Persian Gulf.”

Iran has tightened control over the strait since February 28, banning safe passage of ships belonging to Israel or the USA or associated with these countries, which have launched joint strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic.

The USA also imposed a maritime blockade, not allowing ships traveling to and from Iranian ports to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
