UN, May 27 /Xinhua/ — Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met on Tuesday with his Indonesian counterpart Sugiono. The parties agreed to activate exchanges at a high level, strengthen multifaceted cooperation, and promote further development of bilateral relations.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a high-level United Nations Security Council session on the topic “Upholding the goals and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the international system, in which the United Nations occupies a central place.”
Van I noted that China and Indonesia, as countries with emerging markets and major developing countries, are obliged and should strengthen cooperation, jointly defend the authority and status of the UN, contribute to global peace stabilization, and also participate more actively in solving global problems.
He emphasized that China, striving to build a community with a shared future, is ready to jointly with Indonesia activate contacts at a high level, strengthen joint planning of cooperation, deepen multilateral coordination, and promote the further development of bilateral relations.
Sugiono, in turn, stated that Indonesia attaches great importance to relations with China and is ready to expand contacts at all levels, deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and also jointly implement the achieved consensus in the field of maritime development.
He noted that Indonesia will create a favorable business environment for Chinese enterprises, will work together on expanding cooperation in sectors such as energy and mineral resources, constantly raising the level of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries and contributing to regional peace, stability, and inclusive development.
The parties also exchanged views on international and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
