On May 22, at the venue of the VII International Transport Festival “Transportfest”, the V International Children’s Automobile Forum DAF-2026 was held, organized by the Union “Avtoprom North-West” and the St. Petersburg regional branch of LLC “Union of Machine Builders of Russia”. One of the key events of the forum was the final of the contest “RoboLab: transport robotic projects”, jointly organized by the St. Petersburg State Architectural and Construction University and SPb GUP “Passazhiravtotrans”.

Competition dedicated to the development and creation of mobile robotic systems by school teams based on the results of training in the program “Mobile robotic means on wheeled and tracked platforms.” The project is aimed at developing engineering thinking, popularizing robotics and technical education among schoolchildren.

In the final, 11 teams of engineering automotive transport classes from schools No. 269, No. 331, No. 334, No. 360, No. 496, and No. 625 participated. The participants presented their own robotic projects dedicated to the transport industry, automation of processes, and modern engineering solutions. Each team had a mentor – a student or a teacher from the automotive-road faculty of SPbGASU.

Their developments were presented to the expert jury by schoolchildren from the Kirovsky, Nevsky, Moskovsky, and Frunzensky districts of Petersburg. The teams demonstrated a high level of training, project work skills, and the ability to apply engineering knowledge in practice.

The winner of the “RoboLab: Transport Robotics Projects” competition was the team from school No. 360 named after Hero of the Soviet Union A. V. German of the Frunzensky district. The team presented the project “Development of a functional robotic model for simulating technological processes and structural features of a construction roller.” The team includedKonstantin Miropolcev, Georgy Kodinov, Mikhail Bessonov, Daniil DobrovalovиVladislav Rodionov. The mentor of the team was a supplementary education teacher at the school, a first-year master’s student of the automobile and road faculty of SPbGASU (specializing in “Applied Mechanics”).Mark Druzhinin.

Second place was taken by the team from school No. 334 of the Nevsky District “Educational Complex ‘Nevskaya Perspektiva'”. Project topic: “Development of a functional robotic model to simulate technological processes and structural features of a bulldozer.” The team consisted ofAlexander Blyum, Valeria Klimovskaya, Denis Chechulin, Alexey ShulganиGavriil Shutenko.Mentor – Associate Professor of the Department of Ground Transport Technological Machines of SPBGASU, Candidate of Technical Sciences.Roman Litvin.

Third place was won by the team of School No. 269 of the Kirovsky District – “School of Health.” The team included –Kirill Ivanov, Maksim Ivanyan, Andrey Kobylyansky, Valeriya MilovidovaиDmitry RudskiProject topic: “Robots ecosystem for the analysis and repair of public roads.” The team mentor was a supplemental education teacher at a school, a fourth-year student of the automotive and road faculty of SPbGASU (specialization “Applied Mechanics”).Maksim Golubovich.

At the award ceremony of the winners, a member of the jury and the organizing committee, dean of the automobile and road faculty of SPbGASUAndrey ZazykinIt should be noted that the RoboLab competition has become an important platform for early career guidance for schoolchildren and training future specialists in the transport and engineering sectors: “Holding this competition as part of DAF-2026 and the ‘TransportFest’ festival allows for uniting educational initiatives, industry, and the city’s leading transport enterprises, creating conditions for the development of the engineering potential of youth.”
