The delegation of SPbPU, including Vice-Rector for Additional and Pre-University Education Dmitry Tisonov, Associate Professor of the Higher School of Social Sciences Ivan Kolomeytsev, as well as the university’s benefactor — General Director of the company “Alliance-Stroy” Vasily Minkov, visited the heavy atomic missile cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” of the Ushakov Order, 43rd Division of Missile Ships of the Northern Fleet. The visit took place at the invitation of the ship’s command and crew and continued the long-standing cooperation between SPbPU and the ships of the Northern Fleet, including the heavy atomic missile cruiser “Peter the Great.”A significant part of the crew of the “Admiral Nakhimov” consists of officers and sailors who previously served on the cruiser “Pyotr Veliky,” which emphasizes the continuity of the combat and naval traditions of the Northern Fleet. The crew is now completing the ship’s preparation for its return to the combat strength of the Russian Federation Navy after a deep modernization.

The visit took place within the framework of the development of long-term cooperation between the SPbPU and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and was timed to coincide with the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory and the 38th anniversary of the first raising of the Naval flag on the ship.

A ceremonial event took place at the base of the university’s strategic partner — JSC PO Sevmas. Representatives of SPbPU and invited guests participated in the construction and the flag-raising ceremony, as well as met with the crew of the cruiser and the outstanding combat and political training performers. The outstanding performers of the cruiser command were presented with commemorative gifts from the university, as well as informational materials about the training opportunities at SPbPU. The General Director of Alliance-Stroy, Vasily Minkov, provided on his part leadership assistance to the cruiser crew.

Career guidance events were also held for prospective applicants and their parents. Participants were able to get acquainted with the university’s educational programs, admission requirements, and prospects for professional growth in high-tech industries.

The visit became part of SPbPU’s work on developing cooperation with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and enterprises of the defense-industrial complex in the interest of training engineering personnel for strategically important industrial sectors.

Based on SPbPU, a comprehensive system of additional professional education is being formed for specialists of defense-industrial complex enterprises, servicemen, combat veterans, and their family members. Training is conducted in areas related to the development of unmanned systems, digital modeling, engineering design, manufacturing technologies, lean manufacturing, integrated safety, and others.

A key role in this work is played by the participation of the university in the federal projects “Personnel for the BPS”, “Active Employment Promotion Measures”, “Science and Personnel for the Production of Production Means and Automation”, and “Personnel for Space”. The implementation of these areas allows SPbPU to develop modern additional professional education programs, expand practice-oriented training, and also enhance the formation of engineering teams for strategically important areas of industry and technological development.

Today, the task of universities is not only to impart knowledge but also to form a sustainable system for training personnel for the new technological order. SPbPU builds a seamless trajectory—from military service and applied combat experience to modern engineering and production competencies. Federal projects and interaction with the Ministry of Defense of Russia allow for the rapid implementation of advanced educational solutions in the fields of unmanned systems, digital modeling, high-tech production, and automation. At the same time, this is not only about professional adaptation, but also about the formation of a personnel reserve to ensure the technological sovereignty of the country, Dmitry Tikhonov emphasized.

The command and personnel of the cruiser, which includes veterans of combat actions and participants in a special military operation, expressed their gratitude to the university for the development of educational initiatives and support for professional development programs for military personnel.

Currently, the university is building cooperation with troops, units, and formations, as well as with veteran organizations. For us, participating in such events is not only a sign of respect for military traditions, but also an important part of educational and humanitarian work. Among the personnel, a significant portion consists of combat veterans and participants in the Special Military Operation. The university consistently develops projects aimed at transferring experience, strengthening traditional values, and forming a sustainable support system for servicemen and veterans,” noted Ivan Kolomeytsev.

The visit to the heavy nuclear missile cruiser “Admiral Nakhimov” confirmed the role of SPbPU as one of the leading centers for training engineering personnel for the defense-industrial complex, high-tech industries of industry and sectors related to ensuring Russia’s technological leadership.
