Last night, a massive attack by Russia on Kiev and the Kiev region using drones and rockets continued for seven hours, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for Ukraine, Matthias Schmale, reported on Sunday.

According to him, UN staff, as well as all residents of Kyiv, woke up in the middle of the night to the “terrifying thunderclaps of war.”

“Residential buildings and markets suffered, and the scattered debris caused fires throughout the city,” he said.

“It is reported that at least one civilian has died,” Schmale said. Dozens of people have been injured. Rescuers continue to clear the debris.

The humanitarian coordinator emphasized that as a result of ongoing attacks, peaceful Ukrainians constantly live under conditions of great danger.

“Widespread violence against the peaceful population must stop,” Shmal said.
