Tashkent, May 24 /Xin Hua/ — On Saturday, the 22nd Charity Festival of Cultural Traditions and National Dishes was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of more than twenty diplomatic missions, international organizations, and national cultural centers accredited and operating in Uzbekistan participated in the event.

Festival participants presented national dishes of various countries, cultural traditions, musical and dance programs, as well as elements of national costumes.

The Embassy of the PRC in Uzbekistan also deployed its pavilion at the festival site, combining a charity fair of Chinese cuisine and an interactive zone. Visitors were able not only to try authentic Chinese dishes but also to participate in a master class on calligraphy and traditional paper-cut patterns “qianzi”.

“My daughter today tried writing with ink for the first time under the guidance of Chinese volunteers. It is a very interesting and enlightening experience that allows us to get closer acquainted with the culture of China,” shared Dilnoza Umarova, a resident of Tashkent, who observed the interaction at the Chinese stand.

According to the organizers, the festival was held for charitable purposes, and the funds raised from the sale of national dishes, as well as sponsorship assistance, will be directed to support children with oncological diseases and children with disabilities in Uzbekistan.

This festival is aimed at uniting diplomatic missions and international organizations. Its main goal is to create a friendly and informal atmosphere among diplomatic staff, as well as to familiarize participants with the cultural and gastronomic heritage of various countries.
