Beijing, May 22 /Xin Hua/ — As the country presiding over the UN Security Council (SC) in May, China will hold a high-level UN SC meeting on May 26, an official representative of the Foreign Ministry of the PRC announced on Friday.
The main topic of the upcoming meeting will be “Compliance with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and the strengthening of the international system based on the central role of the UN,” added to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC.
A member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi will preside over the meeting in New York, informed a representative of the MFA of the PRC.
Van I on May 28 in New York will also participate in the meeting of the “Friends of Global Governance Group” and will hold meetings with the UN Secretary-General and foreign ministers of a number of countries, added to the UN Department of Political Affairs.
